In the human rights tribunal case I worked on for my employment law class, I had to decide whether TRU discriminated against Ms. Tessa Johnson for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine due to her religious beliefs. The case was created by my professor for the assignment. I found that TRU discriminated by not exploring alternative accommodations, such as regular testing or hybrid work. The decision concluded that Ms. Johnson’s dismissal was unjustified, and TRU should have considered reasonable accommodations before taking such action.
